Preserving 1 culture, adopting another: Indian woman happy to live in Hartford

About once a month the staff writers at the Daily News have to write a feature called “Everybody Has A Story” (EAHS). The stories are about average Joe’s and Jane’s in Washington County. The WC is a very homogenous place, so I decided to mix things up a bit. I thought it would be interesting to highlight a non-white, non-Christian person. Since many Sikhs use the surname “Singh” (for males) and “Kaur” (for females), figured it would be easy to locate a Sikh in the phonebook. And indeed I did.
