Time

Anybody who grows older knows that time seems to slip by faster and faster as we age. When you are a child, a summer can last a life time.

I can't believe the semester is almost over. I can't believe how quickly it flew by.

Yesterday I saw my grandmother. She is 88 years old. I can't imagine how quickly time must fly by for her. From her perspective, her grandchildren must have grown up in the blink of an eye. How strange.

Sometimes life feels like nothing more than a dream. Sometimes, if you are unlucky, it can feel like a nightmare.

I don't know what the point of life is. There probably isn't any point, but I don't say that in a negative way.

While I am alive I just want to be content. I want to love and be loved.

Whenever I have similar ponderings concerning the nature and meaning of life, I find myself consoled by the 1998 hit song "Life, Ooh Life" by the pop/soul singer Des'Ree.

I'm afraid of the dark
'specially when I'm in a park
And there no one else around,
Oh I get the shivers.
I don't want to see a ghost,
It's the sign that I fear most
I'd rather have a piece of toast and
Watch the evening news.

Chorus:
Life, oh life, oh life doo,
Doot doot dooo. Life, oh life, oh life,
Oh life doo doot doo.

I'm a superstitious girl
I'm tha worst in the world
Never walk under the ladders, I keep
A rabbit's tail. I'll take you up on the dare,
Anytime, anywhere; Name the place,
I'll be there, bungee jumping,
I don't care!

Chorus

So after all said and done
I know I'm not the only one
Life indeed can be fun, If you really want to.
Sometimes living out your dreams,
Ain't as easy as it seems
You wanna fly around the world,
In a beautiful balloon.

Chorus (x2)

Doo doot doo doot. Repeat
Oh, life, oh life. Repeat.

BEST REGARDS

Ryan

Noble and uplifting sentiments indeed, eh Zak?

I'm a suicidal girl
In my Islamic world
Never talk to Jews or Christians
I'll wear a black hijab

Death, Ooh Death
Ooh Allah Akbar!
Ooh Death
Death to all infidels!

My view is that Islamic men are afraid to grant "their" women equal rights: the right to date, to have fun, to go out dancing and flirting with boys-- to date-- because once they do, why would they ever go back to a Neandertal who treats a woman like property when she can experience a Western man who will kiss her feet and make her feel exquisite pleasure because he wants her to, and not as a means to his own pleasure.

The day Islamic men allow Muslim women to the liberated will the the day Islamic men will be sitting at home masturbating to photographs of Ayatollah Khomeini while "their" women are treated like the beautiful princesses they deserve to be treated as.

That was a very nice quote, the first one above, Ryan. Thanks.

Now it's time to watch time fly by and prepare for death.

Bye.

I remember when I was working in Tel-Aviv in 1998 as a construction site labourer, and all the other folk at the Gordon Hostel LOVED that Des'Ree song (MTV was on 24/7), while I used to rant and turn the volume down.

Seriously, give me "G'N'R Lies" any day.
